テイラー・スウィフトの民主党支持表明、共和党支持者と白人ナショナリストが怒り心頭

アーカンソー州の前知事マイク・ハッカビーも、ツイッターでスウィフトを非難している。「テイラー・スウィフトが政治的意見を述べるのは自由だ。しかし13歳の少女たちに投票権がない限り、選挙には影響しないだろう。私はマーシャ・ブラックバーンを支持する」

テネシー州でブラックバーン候補の支援キャンペーンに参加した保守派のキャンディス・オーウェンズは、「スウィフトは黒人やマイノリティを利用して人々を洗脳し、特定の候補者へ投票させようとしている」と発言している。

保守団体ターニング・ポイントUSAの創設者であるチャーリー・カークは10月8日朝のFOXニュース・マンデーで、スウィフトは自分で書いていることを理解していない、と指摘した。同団体は、大学キャンパス内で大人用おむつを履いてリベラル主義に対抗するデモを行うことで有名だ。「今回の投稿で彼女を批判したくはないが、インスタグラムに投稿したのは彼女自身ではないと思う」とカークは言う。「彼女はたぶん、ひどい情報を吹き込まれたのだろう」

ウェブサイト4chan上では、スウィフトの政治的沈黙は人種差別主義者であることの暗黙の了解であるとして、白人ナショナリストたちが彼女を“アーリアの女王”として崇め奉ってきた。同サイト上でも、複数のユーザーがカークと同様の論理を展開している。「ゴーストライターによる投稿のように見える。セレブは皆同じようなセリフを吐き、言い回しも同じだ」とあるユーザーはコメントしている。また別のユーザーは「くだらない宣伝だ。彼女自身は、白人ナショナリストだというレッテルを貼られるのを嫌っただけだ。たぶん意見表明にもギャラが出ているのだろう」

それでもユーザーたちはこの展開にショックを受けている。「もはや“我々の女神”ではない」と投稿したユーザーもいる。また「彼女は我々から遠ざけられ、無能なゾンビにされてしまった」という声もあった。

スウィフトによる候補者支援表明には、商業的なリスクが伴わない訳ではない。ニューヨーク・タイムズ紙のアナリストによると、スウィフトはユタ州、モンタナ州、ネヴァダ州など保守派層の強い米国西部と中西部の地方で最も人気がある一方で、テネシー州での人気はそう高くないという。次は恐らく、ネヴァダ州の民主党候補ジャッキー・ローゼンあたりの名前が上がるのではないだろうか？

一連を受けて、トランプ米大統領は「テイラー・スウィフトの音楽を“今では約25％好きでなくなった”」とコメントした。さらに「彼女はブラックバーン候補のことを何もわかっていない」と付け加えた。

I’m writing this post about the upcoming midterm elections on November 6th, in which I’ll be voting in the state of Tennessee. In the past I’ve been reluctant to publicly voice my political opinions, but due to several events in my life and in the world in the past two years, I feel very differently about that now. I always have and always will cast my vote based on which candidate will protect and fight for the human rights I believe we all deserve in this country. I believe in the fight for LGBTQ rights, and that any form of discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender is WRONG. I believe that the systemic racism we still see in this country towards people of color is terrifying, sickening and prevalent. I cannot vote for someone who will not be willing to fight for dignity for ALL Americans, no matter their skin color, gender or who they love. Running for Senate in the state of Tennessee is a woman named Marsha Blackburn. As much as I have in the past and would like to continue voting for women in office, I cannot support Marsha Blackburn. Her voting record in Congress appalls and terrifies me. She voted against equal pay for women. She voted against the Reauthorization of the Violence Against Women Act, which attempts to protect women from domestic violence, stalking, and date rape. She believes businesses have a right to refuse service to gay couples. She also believes they should not have the right to marry. These are not MY Tennessee values. I will be voting for Phil Bredesen for Senate and Jim Cooper for House of Representatives. Please, please educate yourself on the candidates running in your state and vote based on who most closely represents your values. For a lot of us, we may never find a candidate or party with whom we agree 100% on every issue, but we have to vote anyway. So many intelligent, thoughtful, self-possessed people have turned 18 in the past two years and now have the right and privilege to make their vote count. But first you need to register, which is quick and easy to do. October 9th is the LAST DAY to register to vote in the state of TN. Go to vote.org and you can find all the info. Happy Voting!
